Hub71 Startup BioSapien Advances to Phase I Clinical Trials in Abu Dhabi

Hub71 startup BioSapien has reached a major milestone by advancing its flagship cancer treatment technology, MediChip™, into Phase I clinical trials in Abu Dhabi following approvals from the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), the Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE), and the Institutional Review Board (IRB). The achievement highlights Abu Dhabi’s growing role as a global hub for life sciences innovation and clinical research.

A New Approach to Cancer Treatment

MediChip™ is a 3D-printed drug delivery platform designed to deliver chemotherapy directly to tumour tissue. By releasing treatment locally rather than throughout the body, the technology aims to improve effectiveness while reducing side effects and lowering the amount of medication required.

The first clinical trial will focus on colorectal cancer patients, with plans to expand into additional cancer types in the future.
